An ancient village known by the name SALVADOR DO MUNDO which in Portuguese means as “Saviour of the World”. The Village of Salvador do Mundo is located at 15°31′57″N 73°51′28″E. It has an elevation of 7 metres and also has beautiful scenery. The village has intertwined water bodies with pattos that are covered by water on one side and paddy fields on the other. The area is hilly and mostly forested by teak, cashew and mango. The western part has paddy fields that are watered by a tidal creek that feeds into the Mapusa River. The Village has one of the ancient monuments and Church constructed in 1565 aged about 450 years approximately and is amongst one of the oldest church still standing in the State of Goa. It is named after the patron Salvador do Mundo meaning “Saviour of the World”. The main feast is on August 6, which is the celebration of the feast of the transfiguration of Lord Jesus. The priest present in the church blesses the fields Salvador do Mundo has also an ancient history that revolves around some temples of Vandevta, Vital, Vhoddhi, and Dhaktli Jandevta, that was built in 1565. Salvador do Mundo has a small of place Hindu worship known as Shree Shiv Shambo Prassana.
The village consists of Nine wards which are Defence Colony, Vijaynagar, Alto Torda, Badem, Paithona, Salem, Gangoz, Quitla, and Donvaddo. The village is connected to Porvorim, Penha de França, and Mapusa, by three pattos. The Village of Salvador Do Mundo is situated in the Constituency of Porvorim, Taluka of Bardez, District of North Goa, State of Goa.
